What You Need to Know
To support compliance with O. Reg. 157/25, Ontario has introduced an AED reimbursement program for eligible construction projects. The program is intended to reduce financial barriers while encouraging early adoption of AEDs on job sites.
Eligible constructors may be reimbursed for one AED per project, provided specific conditions are met. The project must last three months or longer, regularly employ 20 or more workers, and have a CPR/AED-trained worker present when work is underway. The AED must be licensed by Health Canada and purchased between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2027. Applications are expected to open January 1, and documentation will be required.
Because reimbursement is limited to one AED per project, choosing the correct device is critical. Selecting a non-licensed or unsupported AED may result in a denied claim. In addition, failure to maintain inspection records or training documentation may jeopardize reimbursement eligibility.
Ontario constructors can reduce risk by selecting reimbursement-eligible, Health Canada–licensed AEDs and maintaining compliance documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Eligible AED options can be reviewed at:
